“Simone Venturi’s Dedalus is an exceedingly clever mechanical way to exchange a playing card simply by putting it in the card box. The card box is later turned over and the exchanged card falls out. You can exchange up to four playing cards in this way (actually, up to six!). I can imagine its use in a Four Ace Routine where four indifferent cards are fairly dropped into the card box and later the four Aces drop out. Simone has opened a door for us here and I can imagine many magicians entering and taking this in many different directions.”

Dedalus is a gimmick that can be applied to any poker sized card case (Bicycle, Tally Ho, Bee). It allows you to perform an extra clean, self working and angle proof switch of a small number of cards (up to six) or billets. You may also use it to handle up to four different outs in mental effects. The gimmick, reliable and durable, resets in seconds and can be secretly removed.

Dedalus è un attrezzo che può essere applicato a qualunque astuccio di carte da poker  (Bicycle, Tally Ho, Bee) grazie al quale è possibile scambiare segretamente un piccolo numero di carte o dei biglietti in modo completamente automatico, invisibile e senza problemi di angoli. Puoi utilizzarlo anche per gestire fino a quattro previsioni diverse nel mentalismo. L’attrezzo, affidabile e durevole, può essere ripreparato in un istante o segretamente eliminato.

	Dedalus is one of my beloved children in magic (others will follow) I have always used it as a pet secret of mine and never intended to release it: my friends in magic convinced me to do otherwise. I recall showing Dedalus to Master Juan Tamariz (no less!), prior to its release. I stopped breathing two minutes before the effect and resumed two minutes later, but he liked nevertheless 🙂 Then I knew I had something! Dedalus was praised by the top minds in magic: I hope that you will join them!

Dedalus è una delle mie amate creature magiche (altre seguiranno). L’ho sempre usato per me tenendolo segreto e non pensavo di pubblicarlo, ma i miei amici maghi mi hanno convinto a fare altrimenti. Ricordo che prima di pubblicarlo ho dmostrato Dedalus al Maestro Juan Tamariz (nientemeno!). Ho smesso di respirare due minuti prima dell’effetto e ho ricominciato due minuti dopo e ciononostante gli è piaciuto 🙂 E’ stato allora che ho capito di avere qualcosa di valido! How many cards can I switch using Dedalus?

Up to six and, with extra care, probably seven. The optimum is four or five (it was created for a four card change that could KILL people – and it does). /

That depends on the context of the effect: you may even use a mirror glass for that matters, but if you are looking for a switching device that will draw absolutely no attention to itself, you need Dedalus. What could be more reasonable than putting some cards back where they came from? /

What kind of card case should I use?
Che tipo di astuccio si usa?

Virtually any poker sized card case will work: all the standard-in-magic cards are ok, such as Bicycle (old case, new case), Tally Ho, Bee, Fournier, Aviator, Atlantis, Phoenix and probably others. /

Can I take out the deck from the box in front of an audience and perform the Dedalus Change right away?

Er… not really. The loaded box isn’t exactly empty, you know 🙂 BUT after the change you may ditch the gimmick and put the deck back in the case! /
Ehm… in realtà, no. L’astuccio caricato non è esattamente vuoto 🙂 TUTTAVIA, dopo il cambio puoi scaricare l’attrezzo e rimettere le carte nella scatola!

Will it break?
Si può rompere?

No. Properly treated, it will last you for a very long time. When the card case wears out, you will have to replace it, but the actual gimmick will not break. Just move it to a new card case. /
No. Se lo tratti nel modo giusto, ti durerà per molto tempo. Quando l’astuccio si sciupa dovrai sostituirlo, ma l’attrezzo vero e proprio non si romperà. Basterà che tu lo trasferisca in un altro astuccio.

How long does it take to reset?
Quanto ci vuole per riprepararlo?

If you take it slow, ten seconds. /

What do I need to handle extra outs?

Actually, nothing. Dedalus, as it is, can be used to change cards or billets and to handle TWO separate outs. To handle four outs, extra preparation is required (we provide you with that little something). Please see the instructions. /
In realtà, niente. Dedalus, così com’è, può essere usato per scambiare carte o biglietti e per gestire DUE out diversi. Per gestirne quattro è richiesta una preparazione supplementare (nella confezione trovi quel qualcosa di cui hai bisogno). Consulta le istruzioni.
